Merval Berglan, 79, of Peru passed away at 9:08 P.M. Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at the Wesleyan Health Care Center, Marion, IN. Merval was born on November 23, 1937, the son of Harry F. and Freda L. Speicher Berglan. Merval was a 1956 graduate of Converse High School and joined the US Army in 1962 where he served as a Military Policeman and received several medals including the Battle Indoctrinate, Code of Conduct, Military Justice and Geneva Convention. He worked and retired from Wilson’s Food Processing Plant. He was a beloved father & friend. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting. One of his favorite hobbies was working on old jeeps. Merval is survived by sons Barry Berglan, Peru, step-son Charles Fisher and his wife Jill, Peru; grandchildren Dusty Fisher and Hayley Rygiec; sister Jane Ann Troyer and her husband George, Kokomo; nephews Tom Berglan and his wife Karen, James Berglan and his wife Lavita, Cary Berglan and his wife Teresa, Jerry Troyer and his Sherrie, Jeff Troyer and his wife Jennifer, Joe Troyer and his wife Kate, one niece Linda Berglan Shafer and husband Greg and his special friend Ruby Weir. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Harold Berglan and Harry Berglan and a sister Marlee Kay Berglan. Per Merval’s wishes no services are scheduled at this time.
