      Laird King, 89, of Poeau, Oklahoma died Monday, March 28, 2005, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born March 12, 1916, in Tecomseh, Oklahoma. He was a retired schoolteacher and curator for Kerr Museum, a member of Society for the Preservation & Encouragement of Barbershop Quartets of America, the Good Times Community Theater, Eastern Oklahoma Historical Society (where he served as president in 1987), NAACP, and Oklahoma Retired Teacher's Association; he was a former Boy Scout Explorer adviser, founded and was involved in the Evergreen Players in Greeley, Colorado and graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado.
      Funeral was held at 11 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Poteau under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.
      He is survived by two sons, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
