Obituary
Marion Hamilton McCuistian, fondly known as Mac, went peacefully into the arms of our Lord on a warm autumn day, October 6, 2022.
Born in Siloam, Arkansas, to John and Zelma Rose McCuistian, Mac made his life in Texas but his heart belonged to Oregon. Growing up, Mac had a wonderful sense of family having meals around a rather large table, taking trips to the mountains and coast, and playing in the beautiful pines.
Mac spent many a day with his partners in crime, Dennis Hankins and Joe Arvidson, having many adventures that were sometimes found out and sometimes better left secret.
Attending grade school and High School in Sweet Home, Arkansas, Mac excelled in basketball and hurdles. Popular among his peers, he was elected Student Council President. While attending college, Marion would spend summers working in the saw mill. He earned several college certifications and a master’s degree in education. His work with special needs children was a testament to Mac’s loving heart, bountiful patience, and compassion for his students.
Loving his country, Marion voluntarily joined the army and served three years in Military Intelligence. Upon an honorary discharge, he entered the educational field and remained until retirement.
Wanda and Johnny Ruth, his remaining sisters, described their brother as having a unique sense of humor, somewhat quiet, and always a gentle man. It was said of Mac, “With all the sorrows he had endured throughout the years, the loss of his only child, Ian, and wife Rosemary, as well as health issues, his faith never failed him."
Marion was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Joellen and Vera. He leaves his wife, Michelle; sisters, Wanda and Johnny Ruth; and brother, Michael to remember the many wonderful moments they shared with him.
Many organizations benefitted from Mac’s generous heart. He was a Gideon and spent many a Saturday offering the Word of the Lord to his community by way of gifting them a Bible.
He often spent lazy afternoons cheering on the Oregon Ducks. He now has a front row seat to every game. GO DUCKS!
It would be remiss not to mention two of his closest Brothers in Christ, Dan Spain and Henry Flick, who held vigil beside him during his last days. An outpouring of prayers were graciously offered by friends and family.
We are forever grateful for the tender care given by the Trinity Hospice Team.
A private service was attended by immediate family. In lieu of flowers, a donation to Gideon International at PO Box 681505, San Antonio, TX 78268-1505 would be most appreciated.
“And He will raise you up on eagle's wings, Bear you on the breath of dawn, Make you to shine in the sun, And hold you in the palm of His Hand.”
REST PEACEFULLY MY LOVE…Michelle
