Dorothy Helen Haynes was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Ray County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Lula (Moyer) Haynes. Dorothy passed away April 8, 2006 at North Kansas City Hospital at the age of 88.
On March 29, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to Murrel F. Proffitt of Camden. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1991. Dorothy was the owner of Proffitt Tax Service retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond where she was a volunteer for the Church Nursery for 63 years. She was also a member of the Ray County Fellowship Center.
Mrs. Proffitt is survived by one son and his wife, Keith and Nancy Proffitt, of Richmond, one daughter and her husband, Beverly and Marvin Walker, of Richmond, 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Murrel, one daughter Wanda Ross; and four brothers, Fred Haynes, Allen Haynes, Orval Haynes and Carl Haynes.~

Lois June Estenbaum, 76, of Richmond, died Tuesday, March 5, 2019, at Ray County Memorial Hospital.
Lois was born on October 15, 1942, in Richmond, the daughter of Fred and Alice Katherine (Johnson) Haynes.  She was united in marriage to Allen Eugene Estenbaum of Claremore, OK, on December 7, 1956.  He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include: one son, Randy E. (Robin) Estenbaum of Hardin; three daughters: Jackie Lynn Creamer of Richmond, Terri Jo (Gerald) Cobb of Huntsville, TX, and Tracy Lee Wellman of Kansas City; nine grandchildren: Charlie Creamer, Fredrick Allen (Laura) Creamer, Leanne Barnett, Randy (Kadee) Estenbaum, II, Rhyler Estenbaum, Zack (Samantha) Cobb, Jewels Wellman, Lauren Wellman, and Madison Wellman; and 10 great-grandchildren: Estelle, Ben, Sam, Lydia, Wesley, Bradyn, Brynlee, Piper, Zoey, and Diego.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Ronnie Haynes, one sister Joan Estenbaum, and one grandson Jeffery Estenbaum.
Lois grew up and was educated in Richmond.  Her family lived in Hardin before returning to Richmond in 1983.  She worked for Walmart for over 20 years and retired as a customer service manager in 2018.  She was of the Christian faith.  She was all about her grandkids and great-grandkids.  She and her husband were the best of friends and enjoyed each other’s company.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to donor’s choice.  They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 East Main Street - P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Monday, March 11, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 10, 2019, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow services in Richmond Memory Gardens.

    Beverly Ann Walker, 74, of Richmond, MO died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at her home.
   Bev was born on September 18, 1942 in Richmond to Murrel and Dorothy Helen (Haynes) Proffitt. She married Marvin Lee (Pee Wee) Walker of Richmond on July 15, 1961. He survives of the home.
  Additional survivors include; one son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Wayne and Beth Walker of Lexington, MO; one daughter, Leann Jones of Overland Park, KS; one brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Nancy Proffitt of Camden; 8 grandchildren, Spencer and Ebone Crow, Justin and Meghan Walker, Logan Pulse and Karah Fisher, Lauren and Antwoine Brown, Deven Walker and Samantha Fowler, Lanie Jones, Camille Cook and Sirena Cook and 9 great-grandchildren.
   In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by one sister, Wanda Ross.
   Bev worked at the License Bureau in Richmond for 8 years and then later at the License Bureau in Lexington for 7 years. She then continued her career as the Voter Registration Clerk for Ray County for 15 years. Beverly was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church for over 65 years and taught Sunday school there for over 50 years. She taught sign language. Bev enjoyed family gatherings and was an avid card player.  She was a lifelong Ray County resident.
   The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the St. Jude’s Hospital for children or to the Donor’s choice.
 
   Memorial services will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, Mo. Inurnment will be in the South Point Cemetery near Orrick, MO.
