CLAUDE LOUIS FERGUSON
Claude Louis Ferguson, age 92, of Memphis, completed his earthly journey to be with his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2011. Mr. Ferguson was born in Fulton County Arkansas on August 30, 1918. He graduated from Salem High School in 1938. He came to Memphis to attend Memphis School of Commerce where he became an accountant. On March 31, 1941, he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corp where he served in WWII. Upon completion of his service, in Lebanon, TN, he married his sweetheart, Virginia McQuiston at the Memphis Reformed Presbyterian Church on June 25, 1943. He was honorably discharged on November of 1945. He worked for Anderson Clayton Cotton Co., Crane Supply Co., Memphis Bank and Trust, Westburne Supply Co. and Combustion and Control. He served as an Elder in the Providence Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church for many years. He served also as a Deacon. He was a member of the Gideon’s International. He gave service also to the Prison Ministry Program. He is survived by his sweet and loving wife of 67 years, Virginia M. McQuiston, two daughters, Judith Rhodes and Linda Strock and son-in-law David Strock. He has two grandsons, John and Michael McDaniel, their wives Tamara and Jennifer and four great grandchildren, Lauren, Anna, Katelyn, and Matthew McDaniel. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Monday, January 24, and funeral services 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, all at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, Poplar Avenue. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery, Atoka, TN. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Providence Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church or to Gideon’s International.
