Odessa - Ronnie Rae Jones, 85, of Odessa, Texas passed away peacefully on Monday night, of March 31, 2025 with his wife Jackie by his side. Ronnie was born Monday, February 5, 1940 in Bowie, Texas to the late Margaret McGee Wilkins and William Columbus Jones
Ronnie attended Odessa High School but transferred to Bowie, Texas his senior year where he graduated. He joined the Army in August of 1958, where he earned a medal in Rifle Marksmanship. Ronnie married Linda McQuistion June 24, 1960. They had their first daughter, Lisa in 1962. Five years later they welcomed their 18 month old adopted daughter Leslie to their family. Linda preceded Ronnie in death in 1984.
Ronnie retired from Huntsman after 35 years of service as a Manager of Human Resources. There he met Jackie Kemp, and after many years of dating, they married March 12, 2010. Ronnie was a very kind and generous man whom loved his family dearly. He was an avid reader, golfer, runner, bicyclist, and sportsman. Ronnie could be seen at the UTPB walking trail almost every day, or walking the mall well into his 80's.
Those left to cherish Ronnie's memories are his loving wife Jackie Jones; his daughters Lisa Wilson of Brownwood, Texas and Leslie Guillermo of Montgomery, Texas; his stepdaughter Jaclyn Kemp of Odessa, Texas; his grandsons Jason (Alisha) Jordan and Justin Jordan both of Brownwood, Texas; his great-grandchildren Jayden Jordan and Cooper Jordan of Brownwood, Texas; his step granddaughter Hannah Bell of Odessa, Texas; his uncle Wayne (Ginger) McGee of San Antonio; his aunt Bernice Anderson of Reno, Nevada; his brother-in-law Andy (Nell) McQuistion; his sister-in-law Charlotte; his special cousin Melody Cameron of Odessa, Texas; his nieces Jackie, Shelly, Paula, Tammie, and Connie; as well as numerous cousins, special friends, and extended family.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his first wife Linda; his parents Margaret McGee and William Columbus Jones; his brother Jerry Jones; as well as his sister Greta St. John.
Ronnie, a very fine Christian man can say:
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race and I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord will award to me." 2nd Timothy 4:7-8
Family and Friends will gather at 5:30-7:30pm, on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Ronnie's residence.
A Memorial Service for Ronnie will begin 10am, Friday, April 11, 2025 at Odessa Tabernacle (2406 Oakwood Dr., Odessa, Texas, 79761) with Pastor Dough Herget officiating.
