      Julian R. McQUISTON Ph.D.
      McQUISTON - Julian R., Ph.D. Of Fredonia, NY, 91, died peacefully after an extended illness on March 3, 2017. Husband of Patricia Moon McQuiston, of Fredonia, NY; father of Mari Ann Wojcik (Robert) of East Amherst, NY; Julian A. "Alex" McQuiston (Margaret) of Greenwich, CT and Raymer W. C. McQuiston (Lisa) of Warren, NJ; grandfather of Thad Wojcik, Christina Wojcik, Andrew Wojcik, Molly McQuiston, Michael McQuiston, Evan McQuiston and Caroline McQuiston; also survived by five great-grandchildren. 1964 Julian joined the State University of New York College at Fredonia, where he had a long and successful teaching career, including an appointment as the Chairman of the History Department. Julian retired in 2001 as a Professor with a Joint Appointment in the Department of History and Department of Communications. During World War II, he saw action in Germany with the 1st U.S. Infantry (the "Big Red One") at the age of 18 and was stationed in Nuremburg after the German surrender until demobilization. A memorial gathering will be held at the Costello Community Room in Rockefeller Arts Center at SUNY Fredonia from 1-4 pm. Flowers gratefully declined.
