- Norma Jean (McCuiston) Ellis was born February 18, 1934, in Estaline, Texas to Gladys and Thomas McCuiston. She passed away August 9, 2022, at the age of 88.
Her family moved to Dallas, Lake Cliff area of Oak Cliff at a young age. She went on to graduate from Adamson High School in 1952. Jean married the love of her life John Scott on June 19, 1953. They were married 69 years. After working for Southwestern Bell for a short time she became a housewife and they raised three sons. She was also an avid quilter and gardener. She loved pretty flowers. After moving to St Petersburg, FL. in 1996, she loved it, but still considered Texas her home.
Jean is survived by her husband, John Scott Ellis and their three sons and spouses, Scott Ellis (Connie), Mickey Ellis (Liz) and Andy Ellis (Kathi), their six grandsons, Phillip Ellis (Celina), Keith Ellis (Jenifer), Tom Ellis (Crystal), Jason Holcomb (Brandi), Jim Ellis and David Ellis and six great grandchildren, where she finally got some girls. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, one grandson, Kyle Ellis, her sister, Gretta Foster and brother, Edwin McCuiston.
Services for Norma Jean Ellis will be held at Laure Land Funeral Home located at 6300 S R L Thornton Fwy, Dallas, Tx. with a visitation on Tuesday, August 16th from 4 to 8 pm and a Celebration of Life on Wednesday, August 17th at 10am followed by Burial at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
