Funeral services for Jack John George McQuisten, 78, will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at the Wheatland Bible Church with Pastor Jason Iacovetto officiating and Bob Guy and Chuck Brown as the eulogists. Interment will be in the Wheatland Cemetery.
Jack McQuisten passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer surrounded by his family; he walked into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Jack was born Friday, October 22, 1937 in Wheatland, Wyoming the son of James Richard and Mary Philomenia (Martell) McQuisten.
He was raised and educated in Wheatland and graduated from the Wheatland High School in 1956. He married Janice Hitt in 1958. In 1961 he purchased his farm in Slater. In the early 1970s he expanded his farming operation in the Gray Rocks area. In 1973 he was awarded the Outstanding Young Farmer Award by the Wheatland Jaycees. On February 1, 1978 he married Kitty Clegg Gloyd. Jack was a member of the Wheatland Bible Church and sang on the worship team with his granddaughter, Jerah. Jack loved the outdoors; he spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and walking with his favorite dog and constant companion, Sabrina. He was an avid card player and loved to bowl and play golf.
Jack is survived by his wife, Catherine G. “Kitty” McQuisten, of Wheatland; daughters, Cindy (Bob) Guy of Denver, Colorado, Lori (Ken) Schnepp of Rimrock, Arizona, Cathy (Ron) Hagman of Wheatland, Julie (BJ Axford) Henion of Wheatland, and Susy (Bryan) Stark of Phoenix, Arizona; siblings, Richard McQuisten of Laramie, Wyoming and Judy Williams of Toole, Utah; ten grandchildren, Kitty, Joe, Bill, Matthew, Ashley, Cody, Jerah, Jeremy, Jaci, and Justin; and two great grandchildren, Graham and Hope.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, James, on July 24, 1988; mother, Mary, on May 14, 1996; sisters, Shirley Stalnaker and Betty Lou McQuisten; and infant grandson, Lance.
A memorial to the Platte County Library, 904 Ninth Street, Wheatland, Wyoming 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Guy, Jeremy Henion, Cody Hagman, Dave Pinch, Jacob Nix, and Malcom Ervin.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bill Whitaker, Matthew Whitaker, and Justin Rothbaum.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
