Funeral services for Mrs. Jean McQuiston, 87, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at New Light Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in New Light Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. in Monroe, LA.
Mrs. McQuiston was born December 9, 1934, and passed away November 12, 2022, in Monroe, LA. She was a very active member of New Light Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir.
Mrs. McQuiston was an avid gardener and loved taking care of her orchids and other flowers that she grew in her yard. She was a member of Northeast Louisiana Orchid Society. After retirement, she spent many hours in service to members of her community.
Mrs. McQuiston is preceded in death by her parents, O.B. and Celia Humphries; in-laws, L.K. and Nellie McQuiston; sisters, June Plag and Barbara English; and son, Paul Arthur McQuiston.
Survivors include her husband, Gradon Louis McQuiston; son, Gradon Michael McQuiston; daughter, Ellen Pitt (Randy); grandson, Kirk McQuiston; granddaughters, Erin McQuiston (Matt Schroyer), Megan Wills (Randy), Grace Traweek (Zach), and Madeline Pitt (Jack Cockrum); siblings, Rev. O.B. Humphries (Connie), Beth Moore (Mike), Ronald Humphries, and Bryce Humphries (Susan); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be Carl Parker, Jack Ramey, Trent Temples, Trey Temples, Jason Wilson, and John Crockett.
The family would like to give special thanks to Elara Hospice and Azalea Estates for their loving and compassionate care of Mrs. McQuiston.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Light Baptist Church.
