    • Alice Mae McQuistion (Sawin) died in the early morning of April 15, 2024 after a short illness. During her last days she was surrounded by the love of her brothers, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice was born October 26,1932 to Hubert and Maude (Larr) Sawin.

Her older brother, Lyle (Mary) Sawin, preceded her in death. She is survived by her younger brothers, Paul (Jane) Sawin , and Mearl (Lonni) Sawin.

She grew up on the family farm in Bloomfield Township, Michigan, and walked or skied to Shippy School across its fields. She graduated from high school in Manton, Michigan in 1951.

On September 20,1952 she married Arnold McQuistion in Grayling, Michigan.

Alice and Arnold had four children: Lori (Derek) Aab; Janice (Ernie) Jury: Mona (Chip) Garvin; and Jeffrey (Heidi) McQuistion.

Arnold preceded her in death in August of 2010.

She had a special bond with her five grandchildren: Erin Garvin, and Alexandra Garvin; Kellie Aab; Kyle (Anne) Jury and Janah (Ben) Crow.

She had developed the same closeness with her 7 great-grandchildren—Elaina Conant, Lola Conant, Miller Crow, Hadlee Crow, Cloey Kraszewski, Stella Kraszewski, and Abigail Jury.

Over the years Alice worked at Michigan Bell Telephone, and for Cadillac Public Schools food service.

Alice enjoyed gardening, reading, birds, and walking in Michigan's woods, especially in spring.

Until a few weeks before her death she lived at Sunnyside Senior Living. She and her family so much appreciated the care of the committed staff.

She sleeps in Jesus, awaiting resurrection at His return.

Her passing leaves a deep void for her family and we eagerly wait for the day when we will be reunited.

Cremation has taken place. There will be a family celebration of life at a later date.
