- Gerald Ray McQuestion, lovingly known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2024, at the age of 83.
Born on May 16, 1941, Jerry's life was a testament to love, family, and a passion for the outdoors.
After the passing of his father, Durwood J. McQuestion, in 1972, Jerry and his four brothers continued their father's legacy by taking over the family business, DJ McQuestion & Sons Inc. In 1986, Jerry's entrepreneurial spirit led him to channel his love for the outdoors into Rack-A-Tack Ranch, a venture that became both his passion and purpose, thriving to this day.
Jerry was not only a dedicated businessman but also a family man who found joy in bringing people together. His life was filled with cherished moments—family cookouts at the cabin, sledding parties, and gatherings that celebrated the love he shared with those around him. His love for hunting and fishing was equaled only by his devotion to his family, which was the cornerstone of his life.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Lana June McQuestion; his children, Julie (Jim) Buys, Joni (Randy) Reece, and Jess McQuestion; and his cherished grandchildren, Linnea (Linc) LaFountain, Jamie (Charley) Koetje, Jarrod Holmes (Katrina Small), Jason Buys, Jennifer Reece, and Jeanene Reece (Kristian Mozden). He was a proud great-grandfather to Jaden Draper (Hunter Brahman), Jazmine Draper, Jolynn Bode, Josalin and Jayla LaFountain, Lachlan, Sutton, and Creighton Koetje, Jackson, Kyra, and Jaeci Holmes, and Mackenzie Speaks; and a great-great-grandfather to Brady Brahman. Jerry is also survived by his brothers Doug (Connie) McQuestion, Steve (Joyce) McQuestion, and Robert Alan (Renee) McQuestion.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Durwood J. and Ella Mamie McQuestion, and his brother, Richard "Dick" McQuestion.
Jerry's legacy is one of love, dedication, and family. He leaves behind cherished memories and enduring bonds among all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
A Celebration of Life service will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 21, 2024, at the Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City with visitation beginning at 11:00 A.M.
