Jimmy McCuistion, 84, resident of Cordell, Oklahoma, was born June 20, 1930, in Canute, Oklahoma, to Olfen and Lizzie (Burnett) McCuistion and passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Jimmy was born in Canute, Oklahoma, and raised in Oklahoma and Texas. Jimmy served in the US Army. He married Shirley Wise April 11, 1953. In 1962, they moved to Rocky, Oklahoma, where their family was raised. Jimmy owned and operated “Jim’s Garage” for numerous years. He also worked several years for Cornell Construction and Freightliner retiring in 2004. Jimmy was a volunteer firefighter and even after his 20 years of service he continued to have that fireman drive to fight the fires. He enjoyed fishing, visiting with family and especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmy enjoyed trading and bartering.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and an infant son Ricky in 1962.
Survivors include his wife Shirley McCuistion; daughters; Shirley Kay Guidrey and Virgil Salmon of Rocky, Oklahoma; Debra Gray and husband Monte of Weatherford, Oklahoma, sons, Tim McCuistion and wife Teena of Rocky, Oklahoma; Nathan McCuistion and Fiance Sabrina Chandler of Elk City, Oklahoma; sisters, Barbara Hughes of Idabel, Oklahoma; and Lillian Bresno of Lawton, Oklahoma. Sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandson.
Funeral services were held for Jimmy McCuistion at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday 23, 2014, at The Generation Church in Cordell, Oklahoma, with Lowell Gray and Monte Gray officiating. Burial will be at Lone Star Cemetery, Rocky, Oklahoma, under the direction of Musick-Varner Funeral Home, Cordell, Oklahoma.
