      Obituary of Douglas Ray McQuiston
      Douglas Ray McQuiston, age 67, of Mt. Pleasant, SC passed away peacefully on June 28, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Doug was born on February 24, 1956 in Richmond, IN. As a young man, Doug excelled in academics and athletics. He was a 1978 graduate of Ball State University where he earned a Bachelor's of Science degree, followed by a long and fulfilling career in fire protection engineering. He also enjoyed volunteering on various mission trips throughout his life. Doug was a devoted husband, father, and friend, as well as an avid Clemson Tigers and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
      Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Colleen McQuiston, his father, Clare McQuiston and his mother, Charlene McQuiston. He is survived by his daughters Meghan Biggers (Allen) of Charleston, SC and Laura Tolbert (Jeremy) of Greenville, SC; son, Andrew "Drew" McQuiston of Charleston, SC; siblings Janette Cason of Waco, TX, Judith Testin of Indianapolis, IN, Gregory McQuiston of Lake Orion, MI, and Joanne McCree of Normal IL; grandchildren, Everett Biggers, Pierson "Bo" Biggers, Charlotte "Charlie" Biggers, Henry Biggers, Parker Tolbert, and Molly Tolbert. A memorial service will take place in Mt. Pleasant, SC on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 11 am in the Moultrie Room at South Bay with a reception immediately to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Kairos Prison Ministry.

      Clare McQuiston
      Richmond, IN -Clare G. McQuiston went home to be with his Lord on April 30, 2017. He was 88.
      He was born May13, 1928 in Richmond to J. Raymond and Olive Hunt McQuiston and lived all ofhis life in Fountain City and Richmond. He was graduated from Fountain CityHigh School in 1946 and received a degree in General Business from MiamiUniversity in 1950.
      Clare servedtwo years in the Army at Fort Sam Houston, TX during the Korean War. It wasthere that he met the former Charlene Kramer. They were married on May 18, 1952and shared 57 years together until her death on October 27, 2009. Following hismilitary service, he returned home and entered the McQuiston Insurance agencywith his father, where he spent 40 years.
      He was a memberof the First Baptist Church for over 60 years and also served as a deacon,trustee, clerk, bible teacher and church historian. He spent 15 years in BibleStudy Fellowship, serving 10 years as a discussion leader. He served 14 yearson the Richmond Advisory Planning Commission, the last six years as president.Clare was a volunteer in the Richmond Rose Garden for several years and alsovolunteered at Reid Hospital for 2200 hours over a nine-year period.
      After retiringfrom the insurance agency, he continued in the insurance industry for 15 yearsas a Director for Indiana Union Mutual and for Town and Country Mutual. Hejoined the Richmond Lions Club in September 1953 and was credited with over 60years of perfect attendance. While a member of the club, he served as Home ShowChairman in 1966, as a Director, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and chaired thecommittee that updated the club by-laws. He was awarded the prestigious MelvinJones Award in 1994.
      He is survivedby five children, Janette Cason; Douglas McQuiston and his wife, Colleen;Judith Testin and her husband, William; Gregory McQuiston and his wife, Birgit;and Joanne McCree and her husband, Patrick; 13 grandchildren, eightgreat-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, DavidMcQuiston and his wife, Karen; and Philip McQuiston and his wife, Martha; asister-in-law, Margie McQuiston; a brother-in-law, Charles Kramer and his wife,Margaret Ann; and many nieces and nephews.
      Clare waspreceded in death by his parents, wife, a brother, Clyde; his step-mother, MaryMcQuiston; a son-in-law, Randall Cason, Sr.; and a nephew, Quinn McQuiston.
      David McQuistonwill conduct a funeral ceremony at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8 at the FirstBaptist Church, 1601 South A Street in Richmond. Interment will follow in theWillow Grove Cemetery.
      Visitation willbe from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 7, at the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home,321 US 27 South in Fountain City.

      Colleen Gail Nowlin McQuiston, age 61, of Bluffton, SC passed away peacefully at home on Monday, October 1, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. McQuiston was born on May 1, 1957 in Valparaiso, IN. She was a 1981 graduate of Valparaiso University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Following her formal education and after several years of raising her children she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She started with Eden Christian Academy in Pittsburgh, PA and throughout her career taught at Kinard Elementary School in Clover, SC, Shell Point Elementary School in Beaufort, SC, and lastly, Bluffton Elementary School in Bluffton, SC. She was an active member of Live Oak Christian Church where she served on various ministry teams in addition to leading and participating in small groups, Bible studies and prayer groups. Outside of work and church involvement, Colleen enjoyed traveling and gardening, but most of all, spending time with her family. Mrs. McQuiston was preceded in death by her father, Donald B. Nowlin. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Douglas R. McQuiston; daughters, Meghan E. Biggers (Allen) of Charleston, SC and Laura K. Tolbert (Jeremy) of Greenville, SC; son, Andrew D. McQuiston of Charleston, SC; mother, Charlotte A. Nowlin of Valpariaso, IN; brothers, David B. Nowlin (Cheri) of Rensselaer, IN and James E. Nowlin (Joan) of Valparaiso, IN; sister, Deborah S. Rigg (Thomas) of Valpariaso, IN; grandchildren, Everett C. Biggers, Pierson B. Biggers, Charlotte Colleen Biggers, and a soon-to-be arriving granddaughter. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Savannah, Lily, and Chloe. A visitation and memorial service will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2018 in Bluffton, SC. The visitation will be held at the May River Chapel in Palmetto Bluff from 10-11 am, with a memorial service to follow on the Village Green in Palmetto Bluff at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Live Oak Christian Church or Bluffton Elementary School. Sauls Funeral Home of Bluffton is assisting the family.www.saulsfh.com
