Clara Bella McQuiston Ault

AULT, Clara Bella McQuiston was born in McDonald, Pa., May 20, 1911, and she went to be with the Lord November 29, 2009. Her family moved to Weirton in the 1920s, and she was the daughter of John Carll McQuiston and Frances Edna Craven McQuiston. She was very proud to be the granddaughter of Thomas W. and Sarah Jane Craven. She married Lester Claire Ault on October 31, 1947, and moved from Weirton to Toronto, Ohio. She was the oldest living McQuiston and was preceded in death by brothers, Richard, Cyrus, Denny and Robert McQuiston and an infant sister and sister, Ruth A. Foutty Palmer. Her husband, Lester preceded her in death, on February 20, 1978. Clara is survived by many nieces and nephews and after the death of their father, she and her husband, doted on her nieces, Caryl Foutty and Ruth Ann Little Foutty who survive and her nephew, Thomas W. Foutty (deceased) and their families. She was an active member of the Riverview United Methodist Church of Toronto for 59 years where she was treasurer for 11 years and a member of many volunteer programs. She was a member and past Treasurer of the Toronto Order of Eastern Star 215. She was an avid reader, bowler, and craft maker and loved to travel. Clara worked for the former G.C. Murphy Company in Weirton for 16 years and 25 years in Toronto. She retired from the G.C. Murphy Co. in 1973 with 41 years of service. She wrote her memoirs at 89 years of age. The book was sold as a fundraiser for the Riverview Church. Clara was everyone’s “Aunt Clara”. She resided at the Weirton Geriatric Center for the last 6 years. Friends and family will gather for visitation 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Clarke Funeral Home, 302 Main St., Toronto. 740-537-1234 or 800-588- 1446. There will be additional visitation Thursday, December 3, 2009 from 10-11 a.m. at the Riverview Methodist Church where a Celebration Service of Clara’s life will be held at 11 a.m. with the Rev. William Hibbs officiating. Burial will follow at the Toronto Union Cemetery. There will be Eastern Star Services 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
