George J. Boucher
George J. Boucher Sr., 83, a well known Litchfield businessman, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home in Litchfield, Monday morning, March 29, 2010.
Mr. Boucher was born in Nashua on September 10, 1926, a son of the late Arthur J. and Eva E. (Tremblay) Boucher. George was the husband of Beverly (McQuesten) Boucher, with whom he shared 52 years of marriage.
George was educated in Hudson and Nashua schools and later attended the former Nashua Business College. During World War II, Mr. Boucher served a tour of duty with the Navy.
In the 1940s, George along with his father and three brothers raised over 30,000 chickens in the greater Hudson area. He then worked for many years for the former Imelda & Harry Dry Cleaners and Palmers Dry Cleaners.
In 1964 Mr. Boucher fulfilled his longtime dream of starting his own business. He built several greenhouses on his property in Litchfield and began Boucher’s Florist & Greenhouses. George took great pride in his business and loved working with his plants and enjoyed talking with his customers.
Mr. Boucher held membership in the American Legion Post 48 of Hudson and attended both St. John The Evangelist Church in Hudson and Infant Jesus Church in Nashua. In his leisure time, George enjoyed golfing with his friends and vacations with his wife, children and grandchildren at both Ogunquit and Hampton Beach.
George was predeceased by three brothers, Roland P. Boucher, Gerard A. Boucher and Norman R. Boucher and his wife, Reina; a sister, Rachel A. Francoeur and her husband Robert W.; two brothers-in-law, Andrew T. Kinville and Robert McQuesten; and a son-in-law, Garfield E. Greenhalgh.
Members of his family include his wife Beverly; his four children, George J. Boucher Jr. of Hudson, Dana Boucher and his wife Ellen, Sharon Greenhalgh and Mary Boucher and her partner Lisa Madden all of Litchfield; his eight beloved grandchildren, Deanna Negron and her husband Jose, Brigitte and Alexis Boucher, Jeremiah and Valerie Boucher, Chelsea and Madison Greenhalgh and Nicholas Boucher; four great-grandchildren, Victoria, Janesa, Angalena and Brianna Negron; a sister, Lucille I. Kinville of Nashua; five sisters-in-law, Lucille H. Boucher of Hudson, Teresa M. Boucher of Nashua, Phyllis Reilly, Bette Guay and Sandra Makowiec and her husband Walter all of Litchfield; two brothers-in-law, Fred McQuesten and his wife Janet, and Charles McQuesten and his wife Nancy all of Litchfield; also nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held at the FARWELL FUNERAL HOME, 18 Lock Street, Nashua on Monday April 5th from 4 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed John XXIII Parish at St. John The Evangelist Church, 27 Library Street, Hudson, Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Friends are invited to attend and will gather at the church. Interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in the care of the FARWELL FUNERAL SERVICE.
