Max Warren McCuistion 73 passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015 at his home in Iantha. Max was born August 30, 1942 in Fowler, CO to John and Pearl "Dickerson" McCuistion. He married Karen "Sue" Byrd November 8, 1964 in Denver, CO. They moved to Iantha in 1981. Together they had 2 sons: Lance McCuistion; Denver, CO, Jesse McCuistion (Tabby); Iantha, MO. Five grandchildren: Cheyenne, Aspen, Sierra, Maximus and Donovan. Max had been employed at Midwest Radar as a certifier of radar guns, Iantha Seed, and was a rancher and a truck driver. He enjoyed bowling and was a member of the U.S. Bowling Congress. Max was a member of Iantha Baptist Church. Max is survived by his sons, 4 grandchildren, brothers John and Richard, and sisters Maribeth and Martha. IANTHA-Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, at Konantz-Warden Funeral Home, for Karen Sue McCuistion, 66, Iantha, who died Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at Barton County Memorial Hospital. Minister Allen Byrd will officiate. Burial will be in Iantha Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Max McCuistion, Lance McCuistion, Jesse McCuistion, Ronnie Byrd, Stephen Romero and Richard McCuistion.
Musical selections are “High on the Mountain” and “I’ll Love You Through It”.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Karen Sue McCuistion scholarship fund for her grandchildren, set up at Lamar Bank & Trust Co.
Survivors include her husband, Max McCuistion, of the home; two sons, Lance McCuistion, Denver, Colo., and Jesse McCuistion and wife Tabatha, Iantha; a foster son, Lawrence Renolds, Gulfport, La.; five grandchildren, Aspen, Sierra, Stephen, Maximus and Donavan; two brothers, Allen and Ronnie Byrd, and five sisters, Bonnie Bell, Lucy Northcut, Cindy Cothern, Irene Easton and Kathy Holtsclaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Cheyenne Spirit McCuistion; a brother, Terry Byrd and a sister, Jewell Ridings.
Mrs. McCuistion was born Oct. 8, 1945, in Treece, Kan., to Elmer and Ethel (Wolfe) Byrd. She graduate from Labette County High School in Altamont, Kan. After getting married she made her home in Colorado, Kansas and Iantha. She worked for the Colorado Public Services as a secretary. After moving to Iantha, she worked for Finley Engineering and retired with 25 years of service from Thorco where she was a material handler.
She attended Iantha Baptist Church.
She married Max McCuistion on Nov. 8, 1964, in Denver, Colo.
