Hadley, MA — "Blondie" Veronica Koziol McQueston passed on Friday, January 21, 2022 at the Elaine Center at Hadley at the age of 103.
Blondie was born in Hadley, MA, April 16, 1918 to Lawrence and Katherine (Szczygiel) Koziol. She was married in 1951 to Alden "Bud" McQueston.
She is survived by her nephews Robert J McQueston and Cindy of Haydenville, Ma, and James McQueston and Agathe of Montpelier, Vt. 4 great-nephews and -nieces, and 6 great grand-nieces. She will also be remembered by the Helen and Edward Rodak families of Hadley, goddaughter Judy Rodak Pelis and Joe, and godson Tom Kusek and Patty Kusek Pipczynski. She was predeceased by her brother Frank Koziol, 1914-1930.
She was born, educated, married and lived all her life in Hadley MA. She worked on the family farm in her youth, then then at Butler and Ulman greenhouses sorting Roses. Finally, she worked at UMASS until she retired.
Blondie received The Boston Post Cane, on August 21, 2018, for being recognized as The Oldest Resident of Hadley in Hadley, Massachusetts.
Blondie loved to drive to visit family and friends and talk about events of the past and present.
She was very proud of her Polish Heritage and enjoyed celebrating "Wiglia" and Borsch. Blondie enjoyed very much listening to the polish music every Saturday morning. She also had to go to Three Rivers for her Polish Rye Bread every week.
The family would like to thank the Elaine Center at Hadley for their special care for Blondie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 28, 2022 at 10 AM at the Most Holy Redeemer Church in Hadley, MA. Burial will be in April at the Old Hadley Cemetery. In accordance with the mask mandate for the town of Hadley, all guests will be required to wear a face covering. CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME of Northampton is in charge of the arrangements.
