- Bonnie Kay Ward Csonka
The family of Bonnie Csonka is saddened to announce her passing on November 5, 2023, at the age of 83 in Ormond Beach Florida. Bonnie was a beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend.
Bonnie was born April 26, 1940, in Salem Ohio to Mary and Leo Ward. She graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in Kent Ohio in 1958. Bonnie attended Akron City Hospital Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing and graduated with her Diploma as a Registered Nurse in 1961. She enjoyed her nursing career of 45 years working in a variety of settings and touching an endless number of patients and families lives with her care. She retired from the Portage County Visiting Nurse and Hospice Service in 2006 and relocated to Florida.
Bonnie moved to Lisbon Ohio with her family in 1974. She was actively involved in her children's lives and interests as Den Mother for Boy Scouts, Bluebird Leader, and 4-H Club in Lisbon Ohio. She also assisted in the management of Csonka Brothers Farm and Zonka Brothers Beverage Store. Bonnie was a member of St. George Catholic Church.
She will be remembered for her love of children, animals, and her baking. Bonnie found joy in every day, had a fantastic sense of wit and humor, a contagious smile, and shared her love generously. Her home always had room for one more at the dinner table and guaranteed leftovers to take home. Bonnie was an active reader and traveler.
Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents Mary (Hickling) Ward, Leo Ward, and nephew Dean Ward. She is survived by her brother William (Gisela) Ward of Syracuse New York and her children Anthony Csonka of Cocoa Beach Fl, Michael Csonka of Titusville Fl, and Katheryn Csonka of Daytona Beach Fl. She will be missed by her nieces and nephews Patty Cobb, Pam Ulmer, Doug Csonka, Paul Csonka, and Andrea Csonka. Bonnie was loved by her grandchildren Carley and Corbin Csonka, Kyle and Garrett Csonka, Ben (Sam) Muniz and great grandson Otto Muniz along with many great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the staff at Ormond Health and Rehab Center who cared for her like family and the compassion and dignity provided by Halifax Health Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers please donate to your favorite no-kill animal shelter or one of her favorite charities that included the GetALong Dachshund Rescue or the Low Rider Dachshund Rescue of Florida.
