Patricia Ann McQuiston (née Spidel), affectionately known as Pat, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2024, in Port Charlotte, Florida, at the age of 94. Born on August 5, 1930, in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, she spent her formative years excelling in music at Chambersburg High School, where she graduated in 1948.
Pat dedicated 40 years of her life as a secretary, concluding her career at Franklin Mint in Wawa, PA. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was a devout member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in North Fort Myers, FL.
A multi-talented individual, Pat was the first chair clarinetist and soloist in her high school concert band and orchestra. She played saxophone in the dance band and participated in the marching band. Her musical talents were matched by her athletic prowess; she was an avid golfer until the age of 93, celebrating multiple hole-in-ones at the Herons Glen Golf and Country Club where she resided for 30 years. Pat also enjoyed tap dancing, playing the piano, working out, and participating in shuffleboard. Her hobbies extended to collecting Royal Doulton Dolls, enjoying Broadway shows, and traveling, with a memorable African Safari being a highlight.
From 1969 to 1971, Pat was a committed member of the Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in 1972 and being appointed to the Grand Chapter of Pennsylvania in 1973. Her life was a testament to her generosity and leadership.
Pat leaves behind a loving family, including her husband, Edwin McQuiston; daughter, Deborah Hocking; son, Gerald Brown Jr.; stepchildren, Charlotte Kerwin and Edwin McQuiston Jr.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennetta and Charles Spidel, stepfather, Raymond Griest, and six aunts and uncles. Pat's life of service, love, athleticism, and music will be dearly remembered by all who knew her.
