    • Dorothy Helen Haynes was born Feb. 8, 1918, in Ray County, Missouri. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Lula (Moyer) Haynes. Dorothy passed away April 8, 2006 at North Kansas City Hospital at the age of 88.
      On March 29, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to Murrel F. Proffitt of Camden. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1991. Dorothy was the owner of Proffitt Tax Service retiring in 1978. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond where she was a volunteer for the Church Nursery for 63 years. She was also a member of the Ray County Fellowship Center.
      Mrs. Proffitt is survived by one son and his wife, Keith and Nancy Proffitt, of Richmond, one daughter and her husband, Beverly and Marvin Walker, of Richmond, 7 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
      She is preceded in death by her husband Murrel, one daughter Wanda Ross; and four brothers, Fred Haynes, Allen Haynes, Orval Haynes and Carl Haynes.~
