Lady McChriston, affectionately known as "Aunt Dot", was born to Isiah & Emma Green Young on March 18, 1932, in West, MS. Lady McChriston moved to her eternal home on March 31, 2022. Lady McChriston was the baby of eight children born to that union. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters (Ethel, Viola & Rosie); three brothers (J.W., Odessa & Willie D); her baby daughter (Loretta); and one grandchild (Cordarius).
Lady McChriston attended elementary school at Long Branch, high school at Holmes County Training and Mary Holmes College.
Lady McChriston was accepted Christ as her personal Saviour at an early age and united with Long Branch M B Church where she remained a member until death.
Lady McChriston was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Joseph D. McChriston on July 29, 1960. This union was blessed with Sarah, James, Joanne, and Rosalind.
Lady McChriston was known for her culinary abilities, specifically her Red Velvet and Hummingbird Cakes along with her pork steak in gravy. She shared her passion for cooking with her daughters and daughter-in-love.
Lady McChriston was the epitome of a First Lady. Her service, support and dedication to the churches her husband pastored, and her membership church was unmatched. There was no deed too small or large, she worked passionately and diligently without complaints.
Lady McChriston leaves to cherish her precious memories, four children~ James (Barbara) Young of West, MS; Sarah Thomas of Freeport, ILL; Joanne Jones of Durant, MS; Rosalind (Donnie) Williams of Durant, MS. Seven grandchildren~ Michelle, LaShawn, Keisha, Dorothy, Cordell, Joseph, and Jarius; Eight great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a loving, devoted and caring sister, Estella White of Lake Mary, Florida; a sister-in-law, Gladys McChriston of Memphis, TN, a loving and devoted personal care attendant, Rosie Carter; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.
