- Charles W. Cottingham, 89, Kokomo, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, at his home. He was born February 27, 1924, in Greentown, to Omar and Viola (Hill) Cottingham. On February 20, 1944, he married Georgia (Barney) Cottingham, and she preceded him in death on September 29, 2010.
He served in United States Army and worked as a machinist at both Stellite and Delco. He was an original member of the Pioneer Auto Club. He had a good sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. He loved to dance and enjoyed writing. He also enjoyed creating things and could make anything with his hands. He made many miniature models and was an expert craftsman in both wood and metal. He was a wonderful dad and grandpa.
He is survived by his children, Connie (Arnie) Hooton, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Linda (Jay) Slabaugh, Lafayette, Steve (Diana) Cottingham, Warrenton, Missouri, and Mary Beth Shelby, Kokomo; ten grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Chuck and Jeff Cottingham; and several brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m. Monday in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery with burial to follow.
