Jack Wendell Johnson, 83, Greentown, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at The Legacy of Waterford Place, Kokomo. He was born August 24, 1936, in Wells County, Indiana, to Hansel and D. Kathleen (Swarts) Johnson.
He graduated from Eastern High School in 1954. Jack was a lifelong farmer in Liberty Township. He had also worked at Greentown Equipment and at the Soil and Water conservation office in Kokomo.
He was a member of the Greentown Masonic Lodge # 341, he was a past Master and lifetime member of over 50 years. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, a member of the Order of Eastern Star #195, Greentown, the Kokomo Shrine Club and Wildcat Tractor Club.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Legacy of Waterford Place and Molly and the staff of St Vincent Hospice for their care and comfort to Jack.
He is survived by his son, Mark W. Johnson (Lynn E.) of Kokomo; daughter, Cara D. Cripe (Christopher L.) of Greentown; grandchildren, Wesley and Rachel Lytle, of Kokomo, Justin and Angela Johnson of Greentown, Carrissa Cripe of Greentown, and Jennifer Johnson of Georgia; great-grandchildren, Faith, Lauren and Travis; brother, Jerry L. Johnson (Jeanne) of Kokomo; sister-in-law, Akiko Johnson; brother-in-law, Robert Taylor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jody L. Lytle; brother, John A. Johnson; and sister, Marilyn D. Taylor.
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hasler & Stout Funeral Home, 112 E. Main St., Greentown. An Eastern Star and Masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 7:30 p.m. with Rex Lamb officiating, also Friday. A private family burial will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greentown Masonic Lodge #317 Scholarship fund.
