Carol was preceded in death by her mother Vernie Pauline Johnson Madary, father Elmer Leonard Buzbee and siblings Virginia Buzbee Mettler, Josephine Buzbee Gray, Calvin Buzbee, Margaret Abner Kelley, Vivian Abner Hadaway, Erma Abner Lerma Charles Abner, John Madary, Margaret Madary Brown, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and half-sister. Carol and Zelbert L. Philips were married on August 23, 1952. The couple was blessed with 10 children. She worked for the Lau factory and retired after 20 years, in 2014. Carol is survived by husband Zelbert, siblings Lottie Buzbee Link of Abbottsford, WI, Shirley Buzbee Short of Grovertown IN, Skip Buzbee of North Judson IN, children Marilyn Phillips of Peru IN, Debra Lawler and James of Wake Forest, NC, Nancy McQueen and Bill of Peru, IN, Terry and Becky Phillips of Windfall, IN, Jerry and Mary Phillips of Peru, IN, Jackie Phillips of Coldwater MI, Sammie Phillips of Peru, IN, Kevin Phillips of Quincy MI, Michael and Linda Phillips of Columbus, IN, Jon Phillips of Peru, IN many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbors and co-workers and Little Bit her beloved dog. The viewing is Thursday, November 9, 2017 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, Indiana. Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 at 10am at the funeral home, with Pastor Bryan Maggart officiating. Graveside service will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
