Surrounded by her dear family, Clara Faye Seals died Tuesday afternoon, June 16, 2015, at her home in Show Low, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 70 years old. Clara was born Tuesday, May 1, 1945, in Wichita, Kan., to the late David Earley and Osie Charlotte (Peck) Root.
In 1961, Clara moved to Phoenix. The following year she met the love of her life, Tommy Joe Seals. Their plan was to get married on his 18th birthday, but with delays from being released from basic training, the wedding actually occurred at 1:30 a.m. the next morning May 25, 1963, at her mother’s home in Sunnyslope.
Together with their two young children, Tammy and Rusty, they spent two years living in Japan before returning to Arizona.
Clara appreciated the beauty of the White Mountains and loved calling Show Low her “home.” After traveling the world with her pastor/evangelist husband, they moved to Show Low, making it their home and to be with her family. Clara found her dream home overlooking a beautiful pasture where she enjoyed spectacular sunsets with her family.
Clara is survived by her husband, Tommy Joe Seals of Show Low; two children, Tammy (Kevin) Weaver and Rusty Seals, both of Show Low. She was also “grammy” to her six grandchildren, Michael (Cierra) Weaver, Daniel Weaver, Sarah (Dakota) Dodd, Japheth (Rose) Weaver, Ryan Seals and KrisLynn Seals; eight great-grandchildren, Logan Weaver, Paige Rawlings, Jaden Weaver, Roxanne Weaver, Ryker Dodd, Jaxon Weaver, Ethan Weaver and Ella Claire Dodd. She will greatly be missed.
A visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Friday, June 19, at Owens Livingston Mortuary White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th St., in Show Low. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. at the mortuary. The concluding service and interment will immediately follow at the Show Low Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in her name may be made to her great-grandson’s Go Fund Me Account to help cover expenses for his special needs. Please visit, www.ethanshope.org for details.
Clara’s family is thankful for all of the expressions of sympathy they have received during this difficult time and are especially grateful for all of the prayers offered up on their behalf.
