A Celebration of Life Gathering for Calvin McQuiston will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake City Chapel. A Prayer Service will conclude the gathering at 12:45 p.m., with Deacon David Dose officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City, with Military Rites by Lake City American Legion Post 110 and Lake City VFW Post 8729.
Calvin Arthur McQuiston, 82, of Lake City, passed away Friday morning, Nov. 16, 2018, in Lake City at the Mayo Clinic Health System-Lake City Care Center.
He was born Nov. 19, 1935, at home in Buffalo County, Wis., to Jacob and Josephine (Scott) McQuiston. He grew up in Buffalo County, attended the Deer Creek and Frost Creek Country Schools, and graduated from Nelson High School in Nelson, Wis. Calvin then enlisted in the Army, serving as a radio operator 1958 to 1961. On July 22, 1961, he married Bernita Evers at St. Felix Catholic Church in Wabasha.
Calvin worked as a mechanic, and drove semi-truck for many years. He enjoyed old cars, tinkering, going to auctions, Pioneer Farm shows, and deer hunting. He was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
Calvin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bernita McQuiston of Lake City; four daughters, Linda McQuiston of Omaha, Neb., Bonnie (Chad) Wyatt, Lori (Steven) Herbst, and Vicki (Rick) Richmond, all of Lake City; four grandchildren, Ashley McQuiston, Jade and Brayden Wyatt, and Madelyn Richmond; brothers and sisters, Leroy (Sallie) McQuiston of Onalaska, Wis. Evelyn Fluetsch of Cassville, Wis., Jacob (Marilyn) McQuiston of Menomonie, Wis., Josephine Korb of Mondovi, Wis., Corabelle Schlesser of Nelson, Wis., Richard (Sandy) McQuiston of Lake City, and Eva May (John) Golden of Menomonie, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Oliver, and Douglas; and two sisters, Goldene and Ruby.
