Dorothy moved to Fort Bragg in her senior year and met the love of her life, Mario, at Fort Bragg High School. In July they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary. Dorothy and Mario raised their children, Russ Morandi and Rory (Salo), in Fort Bragg.
During Dorothy's early years, she was active in the First Baptist Church in Fort Bragg. She was devoted to her family and volunteered in the PTA and Scouts. She worked in the office for Bolden Dairy and the International Woodworkers Association. Dorothy was an avid reader who especially loved mystery novels.
Dorothy was predeceased by her husband, Mario Morandi; her parents, Andrew and Anna McCuistion; sister, Blanch (Paul) Hendrickson; brother, Gus McCuistion; and grandson, Brady Salo, of Fort Bragg. Dorothy is survived by her loving children, Rory (Steve) Salo and Russ (Penny) Morandi of Fort Bragg; and her sister-in-law, Roslie McCuistion, of Southern California. She is also mourned by her grandchildren: Stina Kestner (Chris Cooper) of Fort Bragg; Sadie (Sascha and daughter, Lily) Zvolensky of Paso Robles; Molly Morandi (children, Misha, Mahlon, and Dylan) of Fort Bragg; Sarah (Paul and children, Noah and Ava) Dube of Alabama; Dean (daughter, Gessalynn) Morandi of Oregon; grandson Brady's widow, Nikki Salo, of Fort Bragg; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Per Dorothy's wishes, she will be interred at Rose Memorial Park and no service will be held.
