Matthew C. McQuiston
Matthew C. McQuiston, 57, a well-known Emlenton resident and businessman, went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening, while surrounded by his loving family at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, following a short illness.
Matthew was born in Butler on May 6, 1960. He was the son of Bonnie J. Henderson McQuiston of Emlenton and the late William L. McQuiston.
Matt was 1978 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School.
During the 1990s, he owned and operated his own coffee shop in Middleburg, Fla., and attended Westside Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla. After returning to Emlenton, Matt owned and operated Sunset Screen Printing and Embroidery for more than 20 years.
Matt loved to cook and use his smoker to prepare food and roast coffees. He enjoyed traveling to various destinations on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was a power tool fanatic and loved anything to do with construction, plumbing and electrical work at his own property, or helping others. Matt also loved being Santa Claus to many special needs children over the years. He was an avid supporter of the Emlenton Fire Department.
In addition to his mother, Matt is survived by a sister, Cynthia L. Trill and her husband, Mike, of Butler; a brother, Douglas L. McQuiston and his wife, Michelle, of Emlenton; his maternal grandmother, Virginia Henderson of Middleburg, Fla.; two nieces, Rebecca A. Gates and her husband, Jonathan, of Foxburg, and Jenna D. Trill of Butler; three great-nephews, Brendon, Ashton and Hayden; two aunts, Diana Coffman and her husband, Richard, of Middleburg, Fla., and Vicki Crowther and her husband, John, of the Villages, Fla.; an uncle, James R. Henderson and his wife, Wanda, of Cooksburg; a number of cousins; and his cat, Spot.
In addition to his father who passed away on Oct. 27, 1994, Matt was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; his maternal grandfather; and an aunt, Patricia McElhatten.
McQUISTON - In accordance with his wishes, arrangements are private for Matthew C. McQuiston, who died Saturday, March 3, 2018, and are under the direction of Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton.
