PAUL -- Bessie Reiter Dorsey, an 87-year-old resident of Paul, died Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Parke View Care & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Geneva, Kan., the daughter of Scott and Lola Crocker Reiter. She married Everett Dorsey on June 25, 1934, in Yates Center, Kan. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Everett Dorsey of Paul.
To this union were born seven children, Christine Bill Drew of Heyburn, Delmer Dorsey of Burley, Dolores Meriwether of San Diego, Calif., Merlin Dorsey living in Oregon, Colleen Stuhlberg of Twin Falls and Terry Connie Dorsey of Bountiful, Utah. She is also survived by two sisters, Mary Jones of Burley and Ethel Beckmon of Iola, Kan.; two brothers, Forest Reiter and John Reiter; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Floyd Dorsey; three sisters, Gladys Sherwood, Opal Powers and Frances Decker; and one brother, Frank Reiter. Bessie lived for her family.
She was a loving mother and proud grandmother. She was also a longtime member of the Paul United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 3, 2005, at the Paul United Methodist Church, 127 W. Clark St., with Pastor Elaine Steele officiating. Burial will be in Paul Cemetery.
