Helen Irene Tau McQuiston
Helen Irene Tau McQuiston, age 93, of Harborcreek, died on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Manor Care. She was born on January 2, 1923, in Venango, Pa., to the late Theodore and Laura Schlosser Tau.
Helen was formerly employed at Twinbrook Medical Center as a nurse's aide, Harborcreek School District in the cafeteria, and at the Carnation Plant in Cambridge Springs. She enjoyed square dancing and was a part of the Dancing Flames and Concord Steppers. Helen was also very active in Boy Scouts as a leader for Pack 156 and Troop 151, where she received the prestigious Silver Fawn Award. Helen was a member of the White Shrine, Order of Eastern Star Shiloh Chapter #153, and the Harborcreek Fire Department Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James C. McQuiston on July 30, 2001; son, Ted McQuiston; sister, Geraldine Tau; and brother, Ralph Tau.
She is survived by her sons, Robert McQuiston of Harborcreek, William McQuiston (Bonnie) of Corry, and Thomas McQuiston of Harborcreek; sisters, Eileen Wolfe of New Mexico and Beatrice Perry of Texas; grandchildren, Karen States (Scott), David McQuiston (Megan), Melissa McQuiston, Christopher McQuiston, Thomas J. McQuiston, Ashley McQuiston, and Sarah McQuiston; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St., North East, on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the Order of Eastern Star Shiloh Chapter #153 conducting a service at 7 p.m., and are invited to attend a funeral service on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Rev. David Kuchta. Interment will be at North East Cemetery.
