      Obituary for Lois McCuistion

Lois Jean McCuistion, age 81, beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother passed away in her home on January 3, 2016. She was excited and ready to see Jesus face to face, and to be reunited with her Mother and Daddy, sister, and other loved ones.
Lois was born in Escondido, CA on January 2, 1935 to Mina and Charles Tripp. She graduated from Escondido High School and attended Biola University in Los Angeles.
She is dearly loved and will be missed by her husband Smith “Mac” McCuistion and her three children, Michael, Christine, and Curtis. Family meant everything to her. She was a beautiful person with a generous heart and selfless spirit; she was a wonderful Mother who raised her children with morals and principles and she taught them to be strong and independent.
Lois was like a mother to her grandchildren Rachel and Jacob, calling them her own son and daughter. She loved Rachel and Jacob and cared for them immensely during some extremely hard family times.
She was one of the first to operate a bank mainframe computer when, at the time, there were only two in the U.S. She also worked as a bookkeeper, teacher, church secretary, and office manager. She was a gifted artist, painter, wildlife photographer, and homemaker. She enjoyed collecting toys especially Disney memorabilia including Mickey Mouse and locating rare antique glassware and cookie jars. She particularly enjoyed cooking original specialty meals for her family every Sunday night and especially holidays.
Survivors in addition to her devoted husband Mac; her three children Michael “Mick” McCuistion, Christine “Chris” Check and her husband Gary Check, and Curtis “Curt” McCuistion; grandchildren Michelle Singleton, Jacob “Jake” McCuistion, Rebecca Lohman, Rachel McCuistion, Daniel Check, and Shauna McCuistion; great grandchildren Addison Lohman and Trey Singleton.
Lois’ life on earth, and eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 12th, 2016 at Austin Ridge Bible Church in Austin, TX at 2:00 PM. Reception will also be held at Austin Ridge starting at 2:45 PM. We will depart for burial at Live Oaks Cemetery in Manchaca, TX around 3:15 PM. The viewing is scheduled for Monday, January 11th, 2016 at Harrell Funeral Home at 6:00 PM
