Noble Earnest McChristian, 59, of Japton (Route 6, Huntsville) was found dead near his home Sunday afternoon between 2:30 and 3:00 o'clock. Cause of death is reported to have been from attack by two bulls.
Deputy City Marshal Jack Cook, who went to the scene, reported that Mr. McChristian was last seen alive Tuesday of last week.
Relatives on the way to church Sunday morning went by to see McChristian and could not find him but the house was locked and when they found that he had not been seen since Tuesday, broke into the house.
They found spoiled food and started a search for the man. In a pasture near the home they found the ground torn up, a pitch fork, .22 caliber pistol and McChristian's knife open, along with a boot and part of a torn shirt.
McChristian's body was found about one-half mile from this scene near a road. It is thought that he was attacked by two bulls in the pasture and injured by them, then he either walked or crawled to where the body was found.
Mr. McChristian was born January 5, 1913 in Japton, the son of Henry and Mandy Eubanks McChristian. He was a farmer.
Survivors are two brothers, Lloyd and William, Route 6, Huntsville; four sisters, Mrs. Annie Howard, Huntsville, Mrs. Lucy O'Neal, Route 2, Elkins, Mrs. Katy Couch, Route 1, Wesley, and Mrs. Pearlie Mae Yelvington, Route 1, Wesley.
