Helen M. Closson, 65, of Sidney, passed away Dec. 6, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Sidney.
Helen Marie Closson, the daughter of Richard and Lela (Pederson) McCuiston, was born on Jan. 27, 1948, at North Platte. She attended the North Platte schools and graduated from North Platte High School in 1966.
On Sept. 16, 1967, Helen was united in marriage to Rolland Closson at St. Patrick’s Church in North Platte. They moved to Albion in 1967, where she worked as a meter maid and earned the nickname, Kojak.
Helen also worked as a waitress, baby sitter and mother. In 1985, they moved to Sidney, where she worked as a cashier at a convenience store until her health required her to retire.
Helen loved reading, bingo, board games and court television. She enjoyed spending time with her friends. She was adored by many and will be missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Rolland, of Sidney; two sons, Rodney (Jolene) Closson, of Newman Grove, and Mike (Lisa) Closson, of Norfolk; one daughter, Tammy (Randy) Sabin, of Gothenburg; two brothers, Marion McCuiston, who lived with the family and was considered a son, of Newman Grove, and Richie McCuiston, of North Platte; three sisters, Terri (Michael) Duca, of North Platte, Jennifer McCuiston and Sandi Luckett, both of Huron, S.D.; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt, Elizabeth; and other extended family members.

Services will be at 9 a.m. (MST), today, in the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel. Inurnment will follow at 2 p.m. (CST) today, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Cremation has taken place.
Gehrig-Stitt Chapel and Cremation Service, of Sidney, is in charge of arrangements.
