    • Dorothy McQuisten Obituary

      Dorothy McQuisten, age 89, of Portland, Tennessee, entered into peace on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. Dorothy was born on October 15, 1934, to her parents Wilford and Angeline Willette, in Detroit, Michigan. She was a devoted wife and truly cherished her husband, Jack. Dorothy and Jack loved to dance together. They were thrilled to dance in ballroom and country western competitions. Dorothy also enjoyed completing cross word puzzles, and crocheting gifts for her friends and family in her leisure time. Dorothy will be remembered for being fearlessly bold and her endearing spunk.

      She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

      Dorothy Marie (Willette) McQuisten is survived by her daughter, Shellie Duvall(Curtis); 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and her brother, Gerald Willette(Angie).

      She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack McQuisten; sons, Wesley Tallent, Steven Tallent, and Mickey Roberts; father, Wilford Willette; mother, Angeline (Belpero) Willette; sister, Jonie Willette; and her brother, Roy Willette.

      Although there are no funeral services to announce, the McQuisten family kindly request memorial donations be made to two charities close to Mrs. Dorothy’s heart; either the American Diabetes Association or to Autism Speaks.

      Jack W. McQuisten
      September 29, 1945 – September 11, 2012
      Jack W. McQuisten, 66 of Monroe, died at 7:48 pm Tuesday at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, Toledo after a brief illness.
      Friends may call from 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Rupp Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 11 am Saturday. Rev. Lawrence Detruf will officiate. Cremation will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.
      Born September 29, 1945 in Battle Creek, Michigan, he was the son of Robert and Ceceilia (Pohl) McQuisten. He married Dorothy M. Willette on September 29, 1973.
      Jack was a hairstylist at Hair’s Everything and a member of I.A.T.S.E. Local 38 Detroit/Pontiac Stage Employees Union. He found pleasure in riding his Harley and Country dancing.
      Surviving are his wife Dorothy, son Mickey A. Roberts of Monroe; daughter Shellie M. (Curtis) DuVall of Irmo, South Carolina; Brother Matthew W. McQuisten of Wisconsin; sister Darlene (Lawrence) Luke of Shingleton, Michigan; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
      He was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Wesley J. Tallent and Steven C. Tallent.
