Ouida Fay McCuistion Collins, 88, died on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at Calder Woods in Beaumont. A resident of Beaumont, she was born on September 8, 1924, to Vaude and J. Weldon McCuistion. She was the valedictorian of South Park High School, class of 1941, and was awarded the American Legion Award of Leadership. After working for the City of Beaumont, Ouida married Ed Collins in 1947. Ed and Ouida loved their family, Calder Baptist Church, and Texas A&M University. They were especially committed to the academic and athletic pursuits of their grandchildren. Ed preceded her in death in 1989, along with their granddaughter, Amy Kate Minyard in 1985. After her husband's death, Ouida stayed busy working at her son's dermatology office, where she was beloved by patients and staff.
Ouida is survived by her two daughters and her son: Debbie Minyard and her husband, Jerry; Beverly Baker and her husband, Mike; Dr. Ed Collins and his wife, Karen, all of Beaumont. She proclaimed each one to be her favorite. Ten other of her favorites were eight grandchildren: Mark Minyard and his wife, Ronda; Luke Minyard; Emily Baker; Collin Baker and his wife, Kelly; Clarke Baker; Clayton Baker; Kendall Collins; and Rebecca Collins; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Minyard and Molly Baker.
