      James McQuiston

      James "J.A." Allen McQuiston, a resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Plaquemine, passed away on Friday, April 27, 2012 at the age of 81. He worked many years and retired from Dolese Concrete Company. James enjoyed LSU baseball, hunting, fishing and gardening; but more importantly was a family man who "hung in there" for the birth of his first great-grandchild. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be missed dearly by all who knew him. James is survived by his wife of 58 years, Drusilla "Dru" Mendoza McQuiston; his two sons, Ronnie McQuiston and wife Lenel, and Ritchie Mc- Quiston; three sisters, Hythen Hodges and husband Kenneth, Effie Mae Mixon, and Laura Roshto; one brother, Frank McQuiston and wife Eula Mae; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Mc- Quiston; brother-in-law Jerome Mendoza and wife Laura; three grandchildren, Lauren Martinez and husband Christopher, Ryan McQuiston, and Brennan McQuiston; and one great-grandchild, Shelby Martinez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Lottie McQuiston; and brother, Roy McQuiston. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday April 30, 2012 from 9 a.m. until service at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.       Eula Mae McQuiston, 89, of Baker, LA, passed away on March 31, 2020, at Magnolia Place Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Rogers, AR. She was born to Edith Ashley & Clarence Phipps on Feb 13, 1931 in Wilkinson County, MS. Eula was married for 62 years to her husband, McCray, and she was a decades-long member of First Baptist Church of Baker. Eula is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Celia McQuiston of Gentry, AR; daughter Donna Sue Sullivan of Zachary, LA; sister Geneva Pierce of Zachary, LA; grandchildren Jill McGhee and husband Adam, Travis McQuiston , Tonya Peterson and husband James; step-grandchildren Richard Morris and Russell Morris, four great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank McCray McQuiston; brother Horace Phipps; sister Blanche Mackey; and grandson, Mack York. During her lifetime, Eula and McCray enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the deer camp, for many years at Cat Island in south Louisiana, then later at Wayne and Celia's house in Brister, AR. Everyone looked forward to her Buttermilk and Sweet Potato Pies. After retiring from the State Insurance Commission, Eula devoted countless hours to sewing. She will be best remembered for the many beautiful lap quilts she made for family and friends. In keeping with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines regarding public gatherings, there will be no visitation or funeral service.       Frank McCray McQuiston
      June 5, 1927 - January 16, 2013
      A resident of Baker and a native of Plaquemine, he passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10:15am at Baton Rouge Health Care. He was 85, a retired iron worker with Co-Polymer, and a US Army veteran of World War II.
      Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker, on Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 9am until religious services in the chapel at 11am, conducted by Rev. Don Perkins. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
      Survived by wife of 62 years, Eula Mae McQuiston of Baker; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Celia McQuiston of Emerson, Arkansas; step-daughter, Donna Sullivan of Zachary; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Hythen and Kenneth Hodges of Baton Rouge, and Laura Roshto and Effie Mae Mixon, both of Baker; three grandchildren, Jill and Travis McQuiston, and Tonya Peterson; four great-grandchildren; two step-grandsons, Richard and Russell Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a grandson, Mack York; and two brothers, Roy Nelson McQuiston and James Allen McQuiston. Pallbearers are Ronnie Terrell, Jerry Terrell, Butch Terrell, Bert Neal, Keith Roshto, Robert Roshto, and Travis McQuiston. Frank was a member of First Baptist Church of Baker, and the Baker Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting and fishing, and telling stories and jokes. He especially enjoyed spending time at Wayne’s house parching peanuts on the wood heater that he built, and processing deer meat.
