      Elaine McQuiston Michael a lifelong area resident of the Town of Newburgh entered into rest suddenly July 13, 2011 at St. Luke's/Cornwall Hospital- Newburgh Campus. She was 84.

      The daughter of the late Raymond B. and Aleida (Sadie) King McQuiston, Elaine was born February 12, 1927 in Newburgh.

      Elaine was a member of The Eastern Star, American Legion Post 52, Little Britain Grange and the Ladies of the Shrine, Cypress Temple in Albany. She belonged to these organizations for 50 years.

      In her earlier years she worked at Woolworth's on River Rd, Stroocks and she retired from the A&P in Montgomery where she retired as a cashier. Elaine had a happy go lucky personality, which earned her the nickname "Bubbles'.

      Elaine married the love of her life Walter "Fred" Michael on July 18, 1947 after a courtship of four years and were happily married for 64 years. They were each others soul mates. They were always together. She always thought of others first. She loved to decorate the house and her yard for the enjoyment of her family. Elaine constantly worked in her yard and flower beds and took pride in the appearance of her property. She loved and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and was always so full of life. She always loved to have all the holidays and picnics at her home with her family which meant the world to her.

      The great grandchildren loved to go to Nanny's house to play card, dominoes and riding their bikes and just loved her company.

      Survivors include her devoted husband Walter F. Michael, daughters Linda Bowen and husband Ken and Elaine Wilson and husband Eddie all of the Town of Newburgh. Grandchildren; Dawn Lopez, Erica Bowen, Crystal Alvarez, Eddie Wilson, and Laura Wilson. Great Grandchildren; Kylie Johnson Alyssa Lopez, Samuel Alvarez, Shayne Lopez, Katiana Alvarez, Abner Alvarez, Mariano Wilson and Andrew Kingsley. Sisters; Dorothy Norvell, Marion Thorne, Beulah Carpenter, and a brother Myron McQuiston. Her beloved pets; Tisha and Kitty Cat.

      Elaine was predeceased by her brothers, Ralph McQuiston and Earl McQuiston, sisters; Evelyn Langlitz and Ruth Patterson.

      Visitation to which family and friends are invited will be Friday, July 15, 2011 from 4 - 8 PM at White & Venuto Funeral Home, 188 North Plank Rd. (Rte 32) , Newburgh, NY.

      Funeral service will be held 1 PM, Saturday, July 16, at the funeral home with Rev. Ernie Mossl officiating. Burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor, NY.

      Love, Grace, Generosity, Courage. Beulah May McQuiston Carpenter, 90, died peacefully on February 14th 2013 in the presence of her family. A long term resident of Shinhopple, NY, her friendly and welcoming disposition helped her husband Al Carpenter, Sr. and son, Al Carpenter, Jr. build three successful businesses, Al’s Wild Trout Ltd., Shinhopple and Al’s Sport Store/Downsville Motel. Full of life, Beulah was always smiling and all that came her way felt happy.

      The daughter of the late Raymond and Sadie King McQuiston, she was born at the family’s homestead in Cronomer Valley, Newburgh, NY on July 27, 1922.

      She is survived by her loving son, Al Carpenter of Downsville, NY; daughter Diane Crews of Binghamton, NY; devoted grandchildren, Sarah Crews of Berkshire, NY, Stephen Crews and Jacqueline Malec of Mullica Hill, NJ, and Aleida and Lenny Davis; her two great grandsons, Stephen and Trevor Davis of Newark Valley, NJ; her sisters, Dorothy Norvell and Marion Thorn; brothers-in-law, Walter Michaels and Robert Thorne of Newburgh, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

      She is predeceased by her husband, son-in-law, Stephen E. Crews; her sisters, Aleida Ruth Patterson, Evelyn Langlitz, and Elaine Michaels; and her brothers, Ralph, Earl, and Myron McQuiston.

      Friends and family are invited to visit on Monday, February 18, 2013 at the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue, Roscoe, NY from 10-11 AM.

      Graveside service and burial will be 2 PM in the Modena Rural Cemetery, Rt. 32 north of Plattekill, NY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband of 56 years, Albert Carpenter, Sr.

      Memorial contributions in honor of Beulah’s memory may be made to the Resident Council Fund, c/o Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation & Residential Heath Care Facility, 420 Rockland Road, Roscoe, NY 12776-6420 in recognition of the compassionate staff who cared for her well and kindly.
