      Mildred Josephine Yount, 93, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Corry Manor. Family and friends affectionately knew her simply as Aunt Jo. Mildred was born on April 3, 1922, the daughter of the late William G. and Ethel M. McGonnell McQuiston. She is survived by her sister, Annie Price, two sisters-in-law, Veronica McQuiston and Elnora McQuiston; and several nieces and nephews and their families. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Yount; her father and mother; her sisters, Genevieve McQuiston who died in infancy and Grace Shields, and her brothers, Clyde McQuiston who died at the age of 2 years old, Harry, Arthur and George McQuiston. She was also preceded in death by her half-sisters, Hazel DeMauri, Phoebe Kirch, and Florence Fay; and her half-brothers, Jack, Charles, William and Harold McQuiston. Her half-brother, Jack, was wounded on D-Day at Normandy and died on the Fourth of July in an English hospital. Mildred was a member of First United Methodist Church in Brookville and Corry. She loved music and listened to Christian radio stations every night before falling asleep. She enjoyed singing and playing the guitar, especially with members of her family. Her favorite song to perform for the family was “El Paso”, by Marty Robbins. Her other interests were drawing and painting, working crossword puzzles, the daily soap programs, TV movies, and the Antique Road Show. When Mildred was a young woman, she loved archery and competed in several archery tournaments, where she won many trophies and awards. She also hunted for many years with her husband, brothers and some of her friends. Mildred worked for Raymond Manufacturing for ten and a half years. She then attended and graduated from Ora Jean’s Beauty Academy in Erie and worked for Kresge’s Beauty Salon in Erie for six years. She and her husband moved to Brookville, Pa. to retire. After the death of her husband, she returned to Corry to be near her family. No visitation will be held. Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at the Bracken Funeral Home, 315 N. Center St., Corry, Pa., on Saturday at 11 am. Rev. William Beatty will officiate. Burial will be in Mundurf Cemetery, Mundurf, Pa,.
