Cliff Low
1926 - 2020
In the loving care of family and friends, Cliff Low died of a stroke at the age of 93.
Born in San Francisco, Cliff became an Oregonian at an early age, graduated from Hillsboro High School, then joined the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. Upon discharge, he attended Vanport College, Oregon College of Education, Lewis & Clark College and Oregon State University.
Mr. Low began his 42 year career with Portland Public Schools as a teacher, then Principal and Director of Instruction. He mentored many principals and produced a TV show for educators.
After retirement, Cliff had time to spend with his airplane. He and his wife DeDe flew with the Oregon Trail Flyers several summers. Additionally, he flew in the annual Bonanzas to Oshkosh Formation group 18 times where he was known for his bar tent and hospitality with fellow camping pilots. Cliff was still planning for the 2020 Bonanzas to Oshkosh (B20SH) flight.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, DeDe (De Loris); daughter, Stacey Lutz and her husband, Guy; son, Jason Dana. Cliff was blessed with seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, as well as many loving friends and neighbors. He was affectionately know as "Poppy" by his children and close friends. Amongst his host of Bonanza pilot friends, he was known as a "True Gentleman."
Cliff was always "On top of the world" where he is now, living in bliss surrounded by the unconditional love of God.
