      Captain John T. McQuesten (Jack), U.S. Navy (Retired) was born in Great Barrington, MA on July 31, 1929 to Gladys (Hall) and John McQuesten. He graduated from Agawam MA High School as well as from Columbia University where he was an NROTC scholar. Upon comissioning, he spent the first few years in the Navy as a Naval Aviator and the remander of his 30 years in Surface Warfare. He was Commanding Officer of the USS Norris DD/DDE (859). His Washington, DC assignments included several tours on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and one tour on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. Jack became a fine arts painter after retiring from the Navy in... Captain John T.       Jack became a fine arts painter after retiring from the Navy in 1980. He enjoyed his second career and had several one man shows in Alexandria area.

      Jack was a member of the New York Yacht Club. He lived at Greenspring Retirement Community in Springfield, VA with his wife of 52 years, Ruth McQuesten.

      Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Chapel in Greenspring Village, 7410 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA 22150.
