      Obituary for Ruth Brightbill McQuesten:
      Ruth Brightbill McQuesten died peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2015, in Springfield, VA.
      She was the daughter of Merwin and Luella Boyer Brightbill and was born on August 5, 1929 in Myerstown, PA. She was a 1951 graduate of then Kutztown State Teachers College (now Kutztown University, Kutztown, PA).
      Following a very brief teaching career, Ruth joined the Navy in January, 1952. Military service for women had been discontinued following WWII, but was reinstated during the Korean Conflict. Ruth spent 27 years on active duty and reached the rank of Commander in the Regular Navy in the late 1960's. She retired in September, 1978.
      Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Captain John T. McQuesten. She is survived by a number of loving nieces and nephews. She will be buried in Arlington Cemetery next to her husband John.

      Captain John T. McQuesten (Jack), U.S. Navy (Retired) was born in Great Barrington, MA on July 31, 1929 to Gladys (Hall) and John McQuesten. He graduated from Agawam MA High School as well as from Columbia University where he was an NROTC scholar. Upon comissioning, he spent the first few years in the Navy as a Naval Aviator and the remander of his 30 years in Surface Warfare. He was Commanding Officer of the USS Norris DD/DDE (859). His Washington, DC assignments included several tours on the Joint Chiefs of Staff and one tour on the staff of the Chief of Naval Operations. Jack became a fine arts painter after retiring from the Navy in... Captain John T.
