HELEN PATRICIA MACQUESTEN
Helen Patricia MacQuesten, 99, of Santa Fe, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2022.
Helen (she sometimes went by Patty) was born on October 14, 1922, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Frank Burton and Helen V. Hallisey Burton. She married Frederic George MacQuesten, Jr., on June 26, 1943, in Morehead, Minnesota, and began her career as a military (USAF) wife. She made a loving home for her family at postings throughout the United States, and overseas in Newfoundland, Canada; Greenham Common, England; and Seoul, Republic of Korea. Helen and Colonel MacQuesten retired to Santa Fe in 1990, and continued to travel internationally, especially to Mazatlan, Mexico, where Helen could enjoy the beach. Col. MacQuesten passed away in 2001.
Helen loved living in Santa Fe, bargain shopping, traveling (especially cruises), going to the opera, playing bridge, watching British mysteries, and watching Rafael Nadal play tennis on TV. She is survived by daughters Karen Flynn (James P. Flynn) and Gail MacQuesten (Rob Madril), and by her brother Peter Burton.
Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 1, at the National Cemetery, followed by a gathering of family and friends at Helen's home.
