Vivian Inez Scherrer
Vivian Inez Scherrer, 76, a resident of The Dalles, died at her home on Monday, Dec. 19, 2005.
She was born on Sep. 6, 1929 in Japton, Ark. to Charles Denton and Hazel Nellie (Watkins) McChristian. She grew up in Arkansas and Washington State.
Vivan met her husband Robert J. Scherrer in Wenatchee, Wash. where he worked construction at Rocky Reach Dam. They were married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho on May 7, 1960. They moved to The Dalles, where she was a resident for 45 years. She held various positions in The Dalles. Her favorite position was working at the Chinese restaurant House of Chen for Kitty and Michael Chen.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the United States. She especially enjoyed their trips to Japton, Ark., Branson, Mo. and Brewster, N. Y. to visit relatives. She always enjoyed working in her flower and rose gardens in the summer months.
She is survived by her husband Robert J. Scherrer of The Dalles; her three sons, Harmon Sapp and Judy Verdan of East Wenatchee, Wash., Clifton Sapp and his wife Lynda of East Wenatchee, and Kirk Sapp and his wife LeAnne of Omak, Wash. ; her three daughters, Pamela Allen of Avondale, Ariz., Sandra Scherrer and Darrel Grace of Milwaukie and Sharon Engle and her husband Dale of Tigard; eighteen grandchildren and great grandchildren and her four sisters, Vina Barber and her husband Don, Velma Bryant and her husband Jerry, Lexie Whiteman and Vicky Hull and her husband Charles.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Hazel McChristian; her son, Roger Gene Sapp; her brother, Ancel McChristian and her sister, Verna Canniff.
Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home on Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at the Odd Fellows Mausoleums, 18th and Cherry Heights Road, The Dalles on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005 at 11 a.m., with Chaplain Susan Shipman and Chaplain Bob Green officiating.
Private cremation will be held at Win-Quatt Crematory in The Dalles with Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home in care of arrangements. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of The Gorge.
