McQuiston, Shirley Jean 4/5/1927 - 9/19/2018 Saginaw, Michigan Went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at her home with her family by her side. She was 91 years old. Shirley Jean Morningstar was born on April 5, 1927 in Flint, Michigan to the late Dale and Gertrude (Frisby) Morningstar. She married the love of her life, Bill McQuiston on May 10, 1947; he preceded her in death on December 11, 1998. Shirley was employed as a House Service Operator with Michigan Bell for over 20 years. She was a faithful member of Second Presbyterian Church, a member of Town Talk and the Pit and Balcony Theatre Company. Shirley enjoyed traveling overseas, bowling and walking. She was an indomitable spirit that embodied love for any and all children. Above all she loved and cherished her family. Surviving are two daughters and a son, Sharon (Scott) Schindehette of Saginaw, Karen (Jeff Roberge) Cottrell of Scottville, and William (Sherry) McQuiston of Saginaw; nine grandchildren: Michael Cottrell, Todd Cottrell, Jay Fosgitt, Dave Meredith) Schindehette, Sarah (Adam) Rice, Seth Schindehette, Stacey Itani, Tracy (Jeff) Bierlein, and Eric (Brenda) Wagner; 15 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kayte, Spence, Jack, Evan, Noah, Aden, Susan, Luke, Drew, Madison, Murphy, Cooper, Hadley and Harper; three sisters, Gloria Frick, Dalene (Tim) Chick and Carol (Dave) Bixby; her beloved shih tzu, Oreo. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 24, 2018 at Second Presbyterian Church, 2665 Midland Road. Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company, 201 N. Miller Rd. on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Shirley will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Second Presbyterian Church or Covenant VNA Hospice.
