ARCHDALE Freddy Wilson Gulledge, 64, died Wednesday, March 24, 2004, at High Point Regional Hospital.The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Hallie Scott and the Rev. Bobby Loving officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum of Floral Garden Park Cemetery with military graveside rites.
He was born on Dec. 31, 1939, in Guilford County. He was a member of First Church of God, Archdale. Involved for 15 years with the Archdale-Trinity Little League Football, he enjoyed every minute with the league and made a positive influence on many young men. He enjoyed hunting and his hunting club. With his many friends, he loved riding his boat on the ocean. He completed an active tour of duty with the U.S. Army in Germany. Discharged a staff sergeant, he came home, where he was active in the U.S. Army Reserve in the capacity of drill sergeant. Mr. Gulledge had been associated with Old Dominion Freight Lines and currently owned a trucking business leased to MGM transport. His son, Danny Wilson Gulledge, died Feb. 7, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother, Wilson Gulledge and Opal Echols Gulledge; a brother, Jim Gulledge; and a sister, Shirley Aikens.
On Aug. 20, 1960, he was married to the former Faye McCuiston.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are one son, Scott Gulledge, and wife Star of Snow Camp; grandsons, Matthew Gulledge, David Gulledge, Paul Gulledge, Heath Gulledge; granddaughter Jessie Gulledge; his sister, Bonnie Hendrix, of Sophia; special stepbrother Danny Hunt of Trinity; daughter-in-law Sharon Gulledge of Lake Norman.
