Brenda Sue McCuiston Kennedy, age 85, of Sonora, passed away, Monday, November 4, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her family and her beloved cats, Calico and Fluff Fluff.
She was a member of Barren Run Baptist Church, a graduate of Puryear High School in Puryear, TN and retired from farming along with her husband.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Charles William "Bill" Kennedy on March 2, 2016; her parents, John Madison and Lotty Welby McCuiston and two sisters, Thirza Gourley and Barbara Aldridge.
She is survived by a daughter, Zina (Keith) Breeding of Elizabethtown; a son, John (Monica) Kennedy of Richmond; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Watts, Carmen Kennedy, Emily (Jonathan) Doak, Alex (Jessica) Watts, Kristen Breeding (Jared) Ruhl; six great-grandchildren, Jagger and Ari Doak, Silas Taul, Beckett Watts and Miles and Lylah Ruhl; two sisters, Joan Hill and Jean McDougal both of Puryear TN and a brother, John (Patti) McCuiston of Puryear, TN.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 8, at Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home in Hodgenville with Bro. Bruce Underhill officiating. Burial will follow in Barren Run Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and after 9 a.m. Friday.
Brenda's pallbearers will be John Kennedy, Alex Watts, George Watts, Wendell McDowell, Mason McDowell and James Martin Tharp, honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Watts, Carmen Kennedy, Emily Doak and Jessi Watts.
