David John McQuistion
David John McQuistion, 70, of Butler went home to his heavenly Father on Sunday at the VNA Hospice in Butler with his wife at his side. He fought a courageous battle and was a warrior to the end.
Born Oct. 5, 1946, he was the son of the late John and Edith Burns McQuistion of Prospect.
He married the love of his life, Madeline, on June 18, 1982.
He was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler. David graduated from Slippery Rock High School and then graduated from Robert Morris College.
Dave proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969, serving two tours of duty in Vietnam.
He retired after 40 years of service from Logan Food Service, beginning his career as a salesman and ending as one of their buyers.
Following retirement, he served as a school bus monitor for Valley Lines helping special needs children. He cared for them as if they were his own.
Dave was a lifetime member of the Joseph T. Black VFW Post 249 of Butler. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Harmony and the American Legion Post 117. He was proud to be an active member of the Butler County American Legion Riders, doing all he could to help other veterans. Dave was fondly called the "Ticket Man"; wherever Dave went, his tickets went with him to sell.
Dave enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling with Madeline to many places, especially to the Outer Banks. In earlier days of better health, he belonged to several bowling and golf leagues. But many days he enjoyed just spending time working around his home and being with Madeline.
He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by many. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to others.
Dave leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Madeline Dick McQuistion; his loving furry companion, Laci Marie; his sister-in-law, Julia Conti, and her husband, Frank, of New Castle; two sisters, Mary Summerville of Arizona and Patricia Jones and her husband, Richard, of Cranberry; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by one brother, Robert.
