OBIT: Karen Sue McQuisten (formerly of Kittanning)

Karen Sue (Brown) McQuisten, 62, of Yuma, CO, formerly of Kittanning, passed away June 29, 2015 at the Northern Colorado Long Term Acute Care Hospital, following a battle with cancer.
Karen was born in Kittanning on August 31, 1952 to Theodore W. and Bertha A. (Salsgiver) Brown.
Following graduation from Kittanning High School, Karen worked in the Kittanning area at Moonlight Mushrooms, Inc., for the Leader Times Newspaper and at Shop-n-Save. She met her future husband, David, after relocating to New Jersey. While in New Jersey, she worked at Wawa Food Services and Summit Bank.
Karen was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Yuma, CO, where her husband is currently the pastor. She was a true woman of faith, and was deeply committed and supportive of her husband’s ministry.
Her interest in photography allowed her to make many personal calendars for her family members. She also enjoyed walking, hiking, and sight-seeing, but her greatest joy came from spoiling her granddaughter. Karen will best be remembered for her faith, honesty and integrity.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Rev. David E. McQuisten, of Yuma, CO; daughter, Heather R. Smith and husband, Harry, of Acto, NJ; step-daughter, Shannon McQuisten, of NJ;  granddaughter, Alexis R. Reed; step-grandson, Aedan Bowker; great-grandson, Michael W. Reed; brother, James F. Brown and wife, Evelyn, of Tipp City, OH; sisters, Ruth E. Guidi and husband, Peter, of Las Vegas, NV, Emmy S. Houser and husband, Jerry, of Kittanning, Pauline C. Otterson, of Butler, Judith A. Stitt, of Kittanning, and Sally L. Metzger, of Turnersville, NJ; and sister-in-law, Gertrud Brown, of DuBois.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Randolph R., Theodore, Jr., and Gary Allen Brown; and sisters, Margaret L. Sturdevant and Orvetta L. Brown.
A memorial service will be held today at 10 AM at the First Church of the Nazarene in Yuma, CO with the Reverend David Ralph officiating. Another memorial service is planned at the Nazarene church in Pitman, NJ and will be announced at a later date.  Memorial contributions may be made in Karen’s honor to the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries of the Yuma Nazarene Church, 505 East Beatty Ave., Yuma CO, 80759.
