      His Legacy... Barney Russell Watson, Age, 81, passed away March 2, 2018. He was born on June 16, 1936, in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Dwight and Vervain (Wigent) Watson. Barney married the love of his life, Joyce Ellen McCuistion, on June 18, 1960, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Barney attended a one room school in Lowell, MI, graduating from Lowell High School in 1955. He graduated from Grand Rapids Junior College in 1957 and in 1961 graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree. In 1959 he served honorably in the Army, Veterinary Corp. in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, then deployed to Korea until his discharge in 1962. Barney loved working with wood. He was a master carpenter who built and restored many homes, barns and other buildings in the area. His legacy was in the preservation of old homes and barns. He enjoyed the outdoors and the changing seasons. Barney was a farmer and avid deer hunter and enjoyed sharing these adventures with his children. One of his favorite experiences was being an "Engineer for an Hour" on the Pere Marquette 1225 steam locomotive, the model for the movie "The Polar Express". Barney was a friendly, kind and honest man who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

      His Family... Barney will be missed by his wife Joyce; his two daughters Laurie (Steve) Wood, Wendy (Scott) Hutchison, son Daniel (Elizabeth) Watson and four grandchildren; Timothy (Allison), Eric and Nadya Wood, Jennifer (Chris) Hinton, sister in-law Joan Pierson and brother in-law John Pierson of Elkhorn, NE and his nephews and a very special friend Brian Campbell.
      He is preceded in death by his parents and step mother Erma (Welch) Watson.

      His Farewell... Barney's family and friends will gather Monday, March 5, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Manchester United Methodist Church, Manchester where His Farewell will be held at 11:00 am with a Masonic Ritual, followed by the funeral service. Burial following at Norvell Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Manchester American Legion, Post 117. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Manchester United Methodist Church or to the Saline #311 Order of the Eastern Star or to Arbor Hospice.
